Living in Sydney and Melbourne
SYDNEY:
Australia's most famous city is cosmopolitan, dynamic yet relaxed. With its spectacular natural harbour, no city on earth is built around a more beautiful or memorable backdrop. We are conveniently based in the central city area, and we share our excellent facilities with Charles Strut University and Martin College , one of Australia's leading private career training institution.
The
largest and most dynamic city in Australia,
Sydney is located on the south-east coast
of Australia, in New South Wales. Sydney
has world famous landmarks, such as the
Opera House and Sydney Harbour and since
the summer Olympics in 2000, many purpose-built
sporting and other facilities. The city
enjoys hot summers and mild winters - this
is definitely an outdoors place! In the
eastern suburbs of Sydney are pristine,
sandy beaches, to the north and south are
fascinating national parks and to the west,
the beautiful, celebrated Blue Mountains.
Sydney is a laid-back, friendly place, with
all the amenities and convenience of a world-class
city, without many of the problems found
in other comparable places. Sydney is not
the capital city of Australia, although
you could be forgiven for thinking that
it is!
MELBOURNE:
In Melbourne , historic buildings set side by side with modern architecture, creating a unique and beautiful cityscape. It is a city of sophistication and culture enjoying beautiful waterside suburbs, recreation amenities, shops, cinemas and restaurants. We share our superb central location with Taylors College . We're close to all the city's attractions and have our own health centre and music and graphic facilities.
Melbourne is the capital of the State of Victoria. It is situated on the Yarra River and around Port Phillip Bay with its beautiful beaches and water sports facilities. One quarter of Melbourne's population was born overseas making it one of the world's most multicultural cities. There are now people from 140 nations living harmoniously together. This broad ethnic mix has brought many benefits to the city including a wide range of cuisines and over 2,300 elegant restaurants, bistros and cafes. Melbourne has an excellent public transport system with trams, trains and buses providing an extensive network throughout the city and suburbs.
Melbourne
is in the state of Victoria, about 725 kilometres
south of Sydney. It prides itself on being
a cultured, urbane place and feels much
more European than Sydney, both in its grand
architecture and its attitudes. The weather
is also reminiscent of some places in Europe,
with pleasantly warm summers and cool, rainy
winters. They say that Melbourne can see "four seasons in a day" - those
of you who have been there will know that
this means you have to be prepared for anything.
Other things that characterise this city:
trams, great food, unspoilt surroundings.
Melbourne is a centre of culture, especially
of young culture and our students who have
returned from studying there absolutely
loved it - "Forget Sydney!" they
say, "Come to Melbourne!!"
